Change
My main computer, running Windows XP, died while I was away this weekend. So far the causalities are a Antec SmartPower 350 power supply and a NF4K8AB-RS. I am grateful that both of these companies stand behind their product with a three year warranty.
This means I have dusted off my linux box that I normally VNC into. It has taken about a day and a half to get Ubuntu Feisty Fawn tuned to my liking.
Tweaks
I plugged in my Samsung SyncMaster 225BW. Shortly there after the screen would blank and display "Not optimum mode. Recommended mode: 1680x1050". I had to press the change input button to get the display for about 30 seconds then it would blank again. Of course I head off to Google and find a page with the exact settings xorg.conf for your SyncMaster 225BW on Ubuntu! I am pleased to say that the information is exactly was what I needed.
